This salad is fresh, light and easy so perfect for a light lunch or dinner. Moreover, it is a pretty one, combining the pink melon, white feta, purple onion, green mint and black olives. You could either cut the melon and feta in thin slices, like we did, or make it look even more attractive by cutting them in perfect little cubes, creating a chess-board pattern on a plate.

25 years ago the Berlin Wall Fall market the end of the cold war. The images in Brandenburger Gate were spread in the front page of newspaper all around the globe. It was the end of a chapter in the worlds and specially in Berlin’s history.
To mark the date a symbolic and poetic celebration was set. Through 12 kilometers of the former borders in the city center thousands of helium-filed illuminated balloons were installed. Yesterday night at 19h amid a massive crowd one by one the balloons were released into to air as a “symbol of hope for a world without borders”.
Ok, we can all agree that a LOT happened in Berlin. To study all the major events that took place in our city in 20th century alone could take you years. So we’re not conducting a proper detailed history class here, but we do want to help you prepare for your Berlin trip by sharing what we think are the 10 most remarkable and important events in the history of Berlin.
Berlin and the bear
In the 11th and 12th century two towns were founded along the river Spree; the original Slavic town Berlin and a second town, Cölln. The area came under German rule as part of the Margraviate of Brandeburg, founded by Albert the Bear in 1157. It was Albert the Bear who gave Berlin the bear emblem. The two towns merged formally in 1432 into Berlin-Cölln with a little over 8000 inhabitants at the time.
In 1415 Frederik I became the first elector and his Hohenzollern descendants would rule Berlin as Kings of Prussia and finally as German emperors 1918. The last Hohenzollern emperor was Kaiser Wilhelm II. Continue reading

find at least #5 reasons why this is such a great park.
#1- A victory of the citizens
When Tempelhof Airport was deactivated in 2008 there was a project to build luxuries condominius in its area. The population fought, protested and by means of a plebiscite ensured that the area remain an enormes public park.
#2- Huge sky
Due to its flat geography the sky seems to take over and one has the impression to flout in clouds. For the same reason, this is one of the best places in town to watch the sunset.
#3- Rollers Paradise
The flatness and the former airplane lanes made it perfect for some kinds of sports. Besides rollerbladers, skateboarders, longborders, bikers and runners, Tempelhof became a sea of concrete for Wind and Kite surfers.
#4- Urban gardens
One part of the park is reserved for urban gardens. Full of charm, improvisation and recyclabe materials a group of lovers of the earth produce here all kind of bio vegetables.
#5- Astonish aesthetics
Where in the world citizens get to play in the lanes of a major airport, between urban gardens and through a endless sky colored by all kinds of kites?
Yes, there is something magic about Tempelhof, which makes it a unmisable Berlin attraction.
Canned beans are cheap and healthy, which makes them very convenient for a backpackers meal. For this recipe we used Limabeans. They contain a lot of minerals, iron and vitamines and you can find them in every supermarket or Turkish market.
