By “walk” through the charms and uniqueness of Tempelhoh we
find at least #5 reasons why this is such a great park.
#1- A victory of the citizens
When Tempelhof Airport was deactivated in 2008 there was a project to build luxuries condominius in its area. The population fought, protested and by means of a plebiscite ensured that the area remain an enormes public park.
#2- Huge sky
Due to its flat geography the sky seems to take over and one has the impression to flout in clouds. For the same reason, this is one of the best places in town to watch the sunset.
#3- Rollers Paradise
The flatness and the former airplane lanes made it perfect for some kinds of sports. Besides rollerbladers, skateboarders, longborders, bikers and runners, Tempelhof became a sea of concrete for Wind and Kite surfers.
#4- Urban gardens
One part of the park is reserved for urban gardens. Full of charm, improvisation and recyclabe materials a group of lovers of the earth produce here all kind of bio vegetables.
#5- Astonish aesthetics
Where in the world citizens get to play in the lanes of a major airport, between urban gardens and through a endless sky colored by all kinds of kites?
Yes, there is something magic about Tempelhof, which makes it a unmisable Berlin attraction.

You must have heard of the cold Spanish tomato soup called ‘gazpacho’, but less known is its thicker Andalusian brother ‘salmorejo’, usually topped with cured ham and egg. Combine with a glass of chilled white wine, and Spain suddenly becomes very close. The best thing is that it is super easy to make, and moreover a great way to use up your bread left overs. Because the soup tastes best when it is super cold, we recommend to make the soup on a lazy afternoon or the night before so it can really chill down in the fridge.
PS! As this soup is super super healthy, this recipe is no summer exclusive. Indulge you winter immune system with this shot of power food!
INGREDIENTS (serves 4)
ripe tomatoes, 1 kg
garlic, 2 toes
Stale white bread, 200 gr, soaked for 10 min in water
Quality olive oil, 10 tbsp Continue reading
